- >Well, I thought the two textures you sent me were great... I haven't got around

- >shall I?
-
- I don't know how to access the ftp site via Netscape 1.1. How and
- where are you supposed to enter your email address as a password?
-
- As you can see, I'm still trying to get to grips with the
- complexities of the internet. ;-)
-
- If you do upload them, bear in mind they're 24bit truecolour at the
- moment, they'll need to be converted to 256 colour to work in BM. I don't
- think 256 colours per texture is any limit at all. The textures can be
- worked on in truecolour and converted at the last minute. You'd be
- surprised how often a truecolour image actually contains less than 256
- colours anyway.

- >I have a feeling that there may be a Mac version of DEU... perhaps you could
- >start designing with that... [hasn't Doom now been ported to Mac? I would guess
- >that DEU will follow Doom]
-
- Doom has been ported to the Mac, that's still the only version I've
- played (only for a couple of days over Christmas when my brother borrowed a
- school Power Mac). I hadn't thought of a Mac version of DEU, I'll look into
- that.
-
- >This is a tricky problem... with PC's its not too bad, as you can run ID's
- >install program, but with macs.... I believe that ID have made a .tar.gz of
- >the Doom 1 shareware WAD for the unix ports of Doom. So, if you cannot get
- >a PC version, you can get this. (they have a link to it on the WWW pages at
- >www.idsoftware.com and it is probably in the FTP site that is mirrored all
- >over the place.
-
- I've already downloaded a gzip of Mac Doom and hidden it away on
- one of the library machines (the only ones linked to the internet), now all
- I have to do is find a copy of Gzip and copy it onto that machine- they
- don't have even the most basic of utilities 8-(.
-
- It's still be too big to fit onto a single floppy though, so I'm
- still looking for a way of chopping it up on the Mac and rejoining it on
- the Falcon.
-
- Does anyone know what hqx files are for the Mac, pretty much all
- Mac ftp programs seem to be in this format, including all the archivers. I
- was going to give Simon's idea of using ARJ a go, since I found a Mac
- version of that, but I couldn't de-archive the archive 8-(.
-
- Simon said he might put the ARJ split files onto his web page
- tommorrow, so that might be easiest. 8-)))
-
- See ya.
-
- Have another day.
